How PetDocX Works

PetDocX is a line of veterinarian-formulated dog supplements developed by Dr. Hodges and Dr. Williamson — two practicing vets with 50+ years of combined clinical experience. The brand runs across two connected websites, petdocx.net and petdocx.com, which serve different stages of the same brand:

petdocx.com is the brand's permanent home — the ".com" you'd expect from an established product. Right now it's a minimal holding page signaling that the product is in active beta development, so potential clients who find it know something real is coming. Once the beta wraps, this becomes the full public-facing storefront.

petdocx.net is where the beta program actually lives today. It's a fully functional platform — clients apply for early access, get selected, and receive free product in exchange for feedback via weekly surveys. Three supplements are currently in the program: Crafted Calm (anxiety & stress), Crafted Allergy & Itch (skin & allergy), and Crafted Immune & Gut (gut health & immune support).

Here's how it all works.

PetDocX runs across two connected websites. petdocx.net is the beta program hub — where pet owners apply, where our team manages participants, and where feedback is collected throughout the trial. petdocx.com is the Shopify store where approved participants place their free orders. These two systems work in sequence, tied together by automated emails sent through Resend, our transactional email platform.

It starts with an application

Pet owners apply at petdocx.net/apply. The form collects information about their dog — name, breed, age, weight, the health condition they want to address, current medications, and other eligibility details. When submitted, the application is immediately written to a secure database and queued for review by our team.

Our team reviews every application

Applications are managed through a private admin panel at petdocx.net/admin. The team can see each applicant's full profile — including health history, condition severity, and eligibility flags — and make selection decisions from there. Once a participant is selected, the system assigns them one of our three products based on their dog's needs:

• PetDocX Crafted Calm — for anxiety and stress
• PetDocX Crafted Allergy & Itch — for skin and allergy issues
• PetDocX Crafted Immune & Gut — for gut health and immune support

Approved participants receive a unique coupon code

When our team approves an applicant, Resend immediately fires a selection email to that participant. The email congratulates them, explains what happens next, and includes a unique coupon code specific to their hospital and assigned product. This coupon applies a 100% discount plus free shipping in the Shopify checkout — the participant pays nothing.

Simultaneously, an internal fulfillment notification goes to our shipping team with the participant's full name, product, and shipping address so we can start preparing the order right away.

Free ordering through petdocx.com

The participant visits petdocx.com, finds their assigned product, and enters their coupon code at checkout. Shopify handles the entire order — product selection, checkout, and fulfillment. The coupon zeroes out the total completely, including shipping. The participant receives a standard Shopify order confirmation once the order is placed.

Once it ships, the clock starts

When the product ships, our team logs into the admin panel and records the ship date. This immediately triggers an "Order On The Way" email to the participant letting them know their supplement is in transit.

It also starts the feedback sequence. Three days after the recorded ship date — enough time for the package to arrive — the first survey request goes out automatically.

A structured 7-week feedback program

Over the course of the trial, participants receive seven automated check-in emails via Resend. Each one contains a personalized link to that week's short survey, hosted on petdocx.net. The schedule:

• Day 3 after shipping — Baseline survey (before effects are expected)
• Day 10 — Week 1 check-in
• Day 17 — Week 2 check-in
• Day 24 — Week 3 check-in
• Day 31 — Week 4 check-in
• Day 38 — Week 5 check-in
• Day 45 — Week 6 final check-in

The system only sends a reminder if that week's survey hasn't already been completed — no duplicate emails.

All feedback feeds back to our veterinary team

Survey responses are stored and organized by week, giving Dr. Hodges and Dr. Williamson structured, longitudinal data on how each dog responded to each supplement over time. This data directly informs product refinement before the full public launch.
